3D printing is an additive manufacturing process that allows for 3D models to be fabricated layer by layer resulting in a final product. Using PLA - a type of biodegradable plastic - any number of complex or simple structures can be made and be put to use within a short span of time. There is very little post processing required and the structures printed are fairly reliable and can be used for long periods of time without need for replacement (depending on the use case).
